So in the month of August while I was looking to shut the Remotists site down, I started getting some buyer interest.
While a lot of them were genuine, some of them were laughable at best.
And just 3 days before I was actually suppose to close the account, I got 2 interested buyers for a decent price.
I spoke to both of them and went with the one that will be able to continue serving my subscribers.
Its been over 2 months and I am very happy with my decision.
Future Plans & Operations
My audience has been well taken care of and the listings continue to be valuable. The acquirers have also been expanding fairly well into paid listings and adding more jobs the database.
How much did I make?
I didn't sell for life changing money, just enough to buy myself a good laptop. However, the fact that the newsletter will continue to exist is a big enough incentive for me.
I'm focussing on the mental models newsletter as of now. I'm planning to launch the paid version later this month once I get the company incorporation aspect sorted.
I'll also be coming up with a book with 10 software idea reports that I can promote on my newsletter, product hunt and collaborations. I'm really looking forward to this book.
I'm also look at creating a remote jobs newsletter specifically for leadership roles. I saw a post about gender discrimination in job related advertising and that got me thinking. I even booked out a good name for the newsletter and registered it on Substack.
So that's where I'm at right now. I should have more clarity in a week's time.
PS: I've gotten into gardening pretty heavily in the last couple of months. I'll share some updates there too.
